“When my CT scan report mentioned a ‘possible mass,’ I feared the worst. Dr Jones reviewed my scan, explained in plain English it was just a scar, and reassured me over a video call. Such a relief — and so much more convenient than waiting weeks”.

Second Opinion Stories

They Missed Something Important

I had an MRI after months of back pain. The hospital told me it was just wear and tear and nothing serious. But my symptoms were getting worse, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that something had been missed.

I decided to get a second opinion with Crofton Health. Dr Yusuf reviewed my scan and straight away spotted a small tumour that hadn’t been picked up before. It was early stage — but if I’d waited any longer, it could have been so much worse.

I got the right diagnosis quickly and started treatment straight away. I honestly believe it saved my health.

Huge Weight Off My Shoulders

My CT scan came back with a report that mentioned a ‘possible mass’ in my chest. The wording was vague and terrifying. I spent weeks unable to sleep, convinced it was cancer.

Before going down the route of more tests, I used X for a second opinion. Dr Raghunath reviewed the scan and explained to me in plain English that it wasn’t a tumour at all — just a harmless scar from an old infection. The video call was really reassuring.

That lifted a huge weight off my shoulders and I got peace of mind in less than two days!

The Report Made No Sense to Me

When I received my MRI results for knee pain, the report was full of medical words I didn’t understand. My doctor tried to explain, but I left the appointment even more confused.

I uploaded my scans, and was connected to Dr Yusuf who reviewed everything in detail, and gave me a report that explained clearly what was going on. I then had a video call with him where I asked lots of questions.

For the first time, I felt in control of my own health and finally understood what my scan meant.

A Message From Our Founder and Medical Director

Dr David Smith - Radiologist & Medical Director

I’ve spent over 30 years practising radiology, and I’ve seen how stressful it can be to have a scan and still be left with more questions than answers. In busy hospitals, radiologists often have to rush through dozens of scans a day. They work hard, but the pressure means important details can be missed — and that can lead to delays, uncertainty, or even mistakes. On top of that, many reports are written in complicated medical language that’s difficult to understand.

I started Crofton Health to change that. I wanted to create something where every scan is given the time and attention it deserves — and where people don’t have to pay the heavy private fees often charged at home. By building a global network of expert radiologists, we’re able to provide the same world-class expertise you’d find in leading hospitals, but at a price that is much more affordable.

As Medical Director, I personally oversee our standards and review many of the more complex cases myself. My focus is always the same: to make sure every patient gets a clear, accurate report they can rely on, explained in a way that makes sense.

Second Opinions From World-Class Radiology Experts

Quick. Accurate. Affordable.

When you’ve had a scan, the stakes are high. A missed or incorrect detail could mean the wrong diagnosis, the wrong treatment — and weeks, months, or even years of avoidable harm. Most hospital radiologists are under intense pressure to read dozens of scans in minutes, making it more likely that subtle but important findings are overlooked.

We do things differently. Every scan we review is read by a subspecialist radiologist — a doctor who focuses solely on your type of imaging, whether orthopaedic, neurological, oncological, or another specialty. This means they can detect the smallest changes and patterns others might miss — the kind that can completely change your diagnosis and treatment options.

You’ll receive a clear, detailed report that explains exactly what’s been found, so you can act fast and make the right decisions for your health and future. All from the comfort of your home, without the delays or uncertainty that put your wellbeing at risk.

Why Get a Radiology Second Opinion?

Every year, thousands of MRI, CT, and X-ray scans contain subtle signs of disease that go unnoticed. These tiny details — a faint shadow, an irregular edge, a small nodule — can be the early warning signs of something serious. If they’re missed, it can mean the wrong diagnosis, the wrong treatment, and precious time lost.

A second opinion from an internationally board-certified subspecialist radiologist gives you the reassurance that your scan has been examined in full detail by someone who works exclusively in that area of imaging. Whether it’s detecting a small tumour, identifying early signs of joint damage, or recognising a change in your brain scan that others might miss — their expertise can change the course of your treatment.

A thorough second opinion from Crofton Health can confirm your diagnosis, uncover hidden issues, and give you the clarity you need to move forward with absolute confidence in your treatment plan — without high costs or long delays.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is a radiology second opinion?

It’s a fresh, independent review of your medical images by a radiologist. Instead of a rushed hospital report, your scan is examined in detail, helping reduce the risk of errors and giving you peace of mind before making treatment decisions.

Even skilled radiologists can miss important findings when working under intense time pressure. A second opinion can confirm your diagnosis, pick up details that may have been overlooked, or simply give you the reassurance you need to move forward with treatment decisions.

We accept MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, mammogram, PET scans and more. If you’re unsure whether your scan qualifies, just email us at hello@croftonhealth.com — our team will guide you.

Once you place your order, we’ll send you a secure upload link. Simply drag and drop your files — no technical knowledge required. If you don’t already have your images, we’ll show you how to request them from your hospital or clinic.

Most patients receive their second opinion within 24 hours of upload. If your case is more complex, we’ll let you know and keep you updated.

Your scans are reviewed by board-certified radiologists who specialise in your type of imaging — for example, brain, spine, cancer, or musculoskeletal scans. Each has been carefully selected for their expertise, and our Medical Director oversees clinical standards to ensure accuracy.
